GRADES 4-5
2022 SUMMER FUN GAMES
BASIC RULES
-
2 Hour Games
Each scrimmage will last 2 hours, regardless of innings. If the sun goes down and lights are not on, the game will end at sunset.
-
1 Officiator
An umpire will start the game, end the game, enforce the rules on the field, and make all pitching and run calls.
-
No Coaches
Just kids having fun!
-
Kid Led
Teams will be assigned randomly each game by the club. At check-in, a team captain will be assigned to each team. Team captains will lead their teams by enforcing the field positions worksheet, establishing batting order, resolving disputes with the help of the umpire, and ensuring players maintain good sportsmanship on the field. If there is a problem of any kind, the umpire will speak with team captains. Team captains also have a tradition of awarding a player on their team the game ball at the end of each game.
-
Kid Pitch
All games are kid pitch. Mounds will be 40' for the 7-9 (2nd-3rd) group, and 46' for the 10-12 (4th-5th) group. In an effort to keep the games moving at a faster pace, pitchers must "qualify" based on criteria set forth by the club. If your player is interested in qualifying to pitch, please indicate this on your registration form.
-
Pitching Mound
Whenever possible and available, pitching mounds will be used in the games.
-
Kid Catchers
Each team must use a catcher on defense. Catchers equipment will be provided by the club, but players are encouraged to bring their own.
-
Stealing and Sliding
Stealing bases (including home) and sliding are permitted.
-
Mercy Rules
In order to allow both teams time to develop their skills, each team at bat is allowed 3 outs or 5 runs per inning, whichever comes first. However, games will not be called early regardless of the score. Games will always go 2 hours.
-
Dugout Safety
In order to ensure the safety of our players, we ask that 2 parents "man" each dugout each game. The only job of these parent volunteers is to make sure players stay safe and assist with catcher's gear and equipment management. Parent volunteers are not to coach players.
